How Your Support Helps Families

Milagros para Niños supports the following Boston Children's Hospital programs, all of which serve a large percentage of Latino patients. Philanthropy makes it possible for the hospital to offer these essential services.

Boston Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center (BCHPCC)

BCHPCC provides primary care services to infants, children and young adults from Greater Boston and beyond, with a focus on promoting healthy child growth, development and disease prevention. The center also cares for 1,000 children with very complex health problems, many of whom require assistance with medical equipment, home care and referral coordination. Two featured programs at the center are the Advocating Success for Kids Program and Young Parents Program.

Many families live in poverty and require supportive social services as well as healthcare. Here's a look at the patients we serve:

  • 65% are insured through government programs—philanthropy fills government shortfalls
  • 65% of patient families are headed by single mothers
  • 48% are Latino
  • 15% come from immigrant families
  • 15% of families speak only Spanish

International Health Services

Each year, Boston Children’s Hospital’s International Health Services provides personalized assistance, including medical and non-medical services, to thousands of patients coming from 150+ countries. The International Patient Center is staffed with Case Coordinators who help families navigate their care journey and support families in their native language. Sometimes, families can't afford all the non-care related expenses—that's when Milagros para Niños can help.

The International Health Services has also joined forces with Milagros para Niños to offer new visiting physician “Observership” programs. These train-the-trainer experiences are an invaluable opportunity to share the latest pediatric innovations with leaders from across Latin America.

Martha Eliot Health Center

Located in Jamaica Plain, Martha Eliot offers multiple services to children and adolescents in neighboring urban communities. These include primary care, optometry, early intervention, neurology, allergy and mental health. Boston Children’s Primary Care at Martha Eliot is a sister site to Boston Children’s Primary Care. Specialized services focus on early childhood development, school performance, children with complex medical conditions, obesity, mental health and adolescent health. 85% of patients are Latino and many live in the surrounding community. The staff at Martha Eliot also engages intensely with the community and have created multiple community-based activities.

Hale Family Center for Families

Located right at the hospital, the Hale Family Center for Families is a hub for all patient families. From helping families understand their child's diagnosis to providing the essentials (such as food vouchers or parking for those struggling to get by), the Center is an essential part of caring for the entire family.

Endowment

In addition, 10% of donations will go to the Milagros para Niños endowment. The mission of the endowment is to provide long-term funding for underserved children and the Latino patient population at Boston Children’s Hospital.
