Helping Cooper, Just in Time

Three-week-old Cooper couldn’t seem to stay awake.

Parents Katie and Josh were also concerned about his breathing, which seemed abnormally labored. They asked their local doctors for help multiple times, but each time they were assured he was healthy.

Still, Katie couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

One hot summer day, Cooper seemed even more tired than usual, and his skin was turning gray. Katie and Josh took Cooper to Boston Children’s Hospital to find answers. They made it just in time.

Within minutes, Cooper’s hospital room filled with doctors and nurses. He needed emergency treatment—one of his lungs was filled with cysts, causing the other lung to collapse. Doctors got to work right away and saved Cooper’s life.

Today, Cooper loves to dance and hang out with his older siblings. His regular check-ups show that he’s growing and thriving—and his parents are grateful for the care he received at Boston Children’s.
