Milagros para Niños supports the following Boston Children's departments, all of which serve a large number of Latino patients. Philanthropy makes it possible for the hospital to offer essential services to this underserved community.

Boston Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center (BCHPCC)
BCHPCC provides primary care services to infants, children and young adults from Greater Boston and beyond. Care teams work to treat the whole child: body and mind, behavior and development, with a focus on promoting healthy child growth and disease prevention. Two featured programs at the center are the Advocating Success for Kids Program and the Young Parents Program.
Many families who visit the center live in poverty and require supportive social services as well as health care. Here's a look at the patients we serve:
- 65% are insured through government programs—philanthropy fills government shortfalls
- 65% of patient families are led by single mothers
- 48% are Latino
- 15% come from immigrant families
- 15% of families speak only Spanish
Global Services
Each year, Boston Children's Hospital’s Global Health Services department provides personalized assistance, including medical and non-medical services, to thousands of patients coming from 160+ countries. Case coordinators help families navigate their care journey and support families in their native language. Often, families cannot afford all the non-care-related expenses—that is where Milagros para Niños can help.
With the help of Milagros para Niños, Global Health Services offers visiting physician "Observership" programs. These train-the-trainer experiences are an invaluable opportunity to share the latest pediatric innovations with leaders from across the world, so they can take learned innovations and best practices to their home countries.
Martha Eliot Health Center
Located in Jamaica Plain, the Martha Eliot Health Center offers many services to children and adolescents in neighboring communities. These include primary care, optometry, early intervention, neurology, allergy and mental health. Specialized services focus on early childhood development, school performance, complex medical conditions, obesity, mental health and adolescent health. Eighty-five percnet of patients identify as Latino and many live in the surrounding community.
Hale Family Center for Families
Located in the lobby of Boston Children’s, the Hale Family Center for Families is a hub for patient-families to receive support throughout their time at the hospital by striving to create a home-away-from-home. From helping families understand their child's diagnosis to providing the essentials (such as food vouchers or parking for those in need), the Center is a critical part of caring for the entire family. Offerings range from Reiki and massage, yoga, art therapy, complimentary coffee, showers, laundry and interpretive services for caregivers; to play areas, activities, animal therapy, celebrations and more for kids.
Social Work Fund
The Social Work Department serves patients and families with psychological and behavioral health needs by providing an array of interventions aimed at improving health and wellbeing. Challenges social workers may help patient families address include but are not limited to catastrophic illness, developmental challenges, children at risk, grief, loss and end-of-life issues, financial crises and poverty, immigration, coping with diagnosis, illness or hospitalization, food and housing insecurity, behavioral health, cultural issues and access to community resources.
