Injecting hope and learning
Boston Children’s and MilliporeSigma have launched a four year philanthropic partnership to help solve some of today’s biggest health challenges and engage youth in science discovery.
MilliporeSigma’s generous commitment is two-fold –
- enable the development of injectable oxygen — a potentially life-saving therapy that can be delivered directly into the bloodstream of children experiencing cardiac arrest
- engage families in STEM education programming, virtual reality experiences and curiosity lab experiments.
As a philanthropic contributor to Boston Children’s, MilliporeSigma has been a friend to our patients and community. MilliporeSigma’s generosity toward the injectable oxygen project has profound potential to improve survival rates and reduce the incidence of brain injury in patients all over the world. This initiative, co-led by John N. Kheir, MD and Brian D. Polizzotti, PhD, can be brought to the bedside having an exceptional clinical impact.
MilliporeSigma has also worked with Boston Children’s to develop and implement a hospital-based STEM education series. Boston Children’s Engineers and Child Life have worked collaboratively to create virtual reality experiences, STEM kit series and curiosity lab experiments for our patients, their families and neighboring communities.
