Dance Marathon gave me the opportunity to grow as a compassionate leader: balancing shared vision and inspiration with an intense drive to create a successful event. In job interviews, I've been able to speak to so many transferable skills managers are seeking in candidates with real experiences because of my involvement.

An incredible part of planning a Dance Marathon is the network of resources Children's Miracle Network Hospitals gives to every program. Whether it’s a new Dance Marathon or one that's been around for over a decade, the connections to amazing facilities like Boston Children’s Hospital and advisors around the country give every program the chance to grow and build their fundraising efforts.

Working with the students and adult volunteers on our Dance Marathon is a highlight of my many years in community service. After all, as our students said: "It was for the kids,” and that's what made it so special, especially having the kids and families from Boston Children's at our event.

This was my first time planning a big event. It was a lot of hard work, but I enjoyed everything because I knew how important this would be to the patients of Boston Children's Hospital. I remember the level of care I received when I broke my ankle, and knowing that the money we raised would go into helping other kids motivated me to work my best to put on a fun event and spread awareness.
