Fundraising Tips

  1. After you register, make a donation to yourself. It gets the ball rolling and shows your friends and family how committed you are to the hospital.
  2. Make your personal fundraising page…personal! Why are you walking? For your child? A friend? Did Children's save your life? There are so many reasons why people walk --when you share your story with others, it boosts fundraising. So go ahead, log into your PFP – tell your story and upload a photo.
  3. Tap into your network. Ask your friends, family and coworkers for support. They can contribute, email their friends and spread the word through Facebook and Twitter.
  4. Put your digital skills to good use on Facebook. Share your Personal Fundraising Page on your profile/timeline and ask others to share it with their friends on your behalf.
  5. Send lots of emails! Look through your address book and see who you can reach out to. Tell them why you're walking for Boston Children's and include a link to your Personal Fundraising Page. Send friendly reminders as the walk date approaches.
  6. Partner with your workplace. See if your company matches employee charitable contributions. When you ask your co-workers to donate, remind them that their donations will go even further with the company match.
  7. Whenever you receive a donation from a friend who's on Facebook or Twitter, post a friendly thank you message and tag the individuals who've given. Your post will show up on your own page and on the page of the tagged donor. Other people will see the post and hopefully they'll step up and make a donation!
  8. Ask for specific amounts. Tell donors that any gift, large or small, will make a tremendous difference.
