General Tribute FAQs

Who do I contact with questions?
Please send an email to tributes@chtrust.org or contact Mary Conway at (857) 218-3133.

If I make a gift in honor or in memory of someone special, will the honoree or their family be notified?
When you make a gift in honor or in memory of someone, we can send a tribute card to inform the honoree or their family members of your thoughtful gesture. When making a gift online, please "select a tribute" type and note "who" you are honoring. Next to "Send a Personal Note", click "yes" and provide us with the name and address of the person you would like to notify. Please feel free to contact Mary Conway at (857) 218-3133 if you prefer to make the gift over the phone.

Can my gift support an area of the hospital that is meaningful to me?
Your gift may be unrestricted and support the areas of greatest need at Boston Children's, or you may direct your gift to support a specific purpose or program at the Hospital. On the online giving form, you have the option of directing your gift to support patient care, research or community health programs. If you prefer to target your gift to a specific program or project not listed on the form, please choose "other" and tell us the name of the doctor, department, or research area - whatever you think will help us direct your gift to the area of the hospital you would like to support. Our team is here to assist you; please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

For which types of occasions do people make tribute gifts?
Tribute gifts are made for many reasons as they are a thoughtful way to honor someone you care about. Gifts are often made in honor of birthdays, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, baby showers, anniversaries and simply honoring great work.

How can I encourage friends and family to make gifts in honor of a special occasion or a loved one?
Creating a tribute fundraising page will help you encourage your friends and family to join you in celebrating an occasion or honoring a loved one. Your page will allow supporters to make gifts online and share words of celebration or encouragement. The pages include email and social media sharing features to help you spread the word.

I would like to create a tribute in memory of my loved one, how can I be notified of gifts made in their memory?
We acknowledge each memorial contribution and can send you or your family a notification card for every gift received. Please contact Mary Conway at (857) 218-3133 or mary.conway@chtrust.org for more information.

Tribute Fundraising FAQs

How long should my tribute page last?
When setting up your page  you are able to select how long it will be active for. If it is a one-time event, allow some time after the event for people to make their contributions. If it is an annual event, your fundraiser may have an end date far into the future. You can continue to use your fundraising page to keep people informed of milestones throughout the year.

Manage your Blog - what does clicking on profile post do?
The profile post listing tells you which of your entries is currently being showcased on your fundraising page (it has a yes next to it). You can change which post is featured at any time by clicking the no link in the profile post column. No will change to yes, and the story that was featured will now have a no next to it.

Manage your Blog - what does clicking on archive do?
The archive listing tells you which of your posts are visible to the public (“no” shows up in the column list for not archived) and which have been archived and are no longer available for the public to see (yes shows up in the column list). If you click on no in the archive column, the profile post will be archived, meaning it will no longer be visible when people look at your blog. The no link will turn into a link that says yes, showing you that this post has been successfully archived. If you archive a post and decide at a later date you would like it to be visible again, all you have to do is click on the yes link. The link will again show up as no showing that the post is no longer archived.

Can I remove unwanted comments posted by others?
If you receive comments that need to be removed, please click on the report abuse link at the bottom of your fundraising page. In the email, please let us know who you are, how we can reach you (if necessary) and the url of the page this comment is on. We can then remove it for you.

Email - what is a .csv file?
A CSV file is a text file that has a specific format which allows for the saving of textual information/data in an organized fashion. The format, known as a flat table, is very simple. A CSV file can be easily created in a Spreadsheet program (i.e. Microsoft Excel).

Email - Why would I need a .csv file?
The import option for this system can only read csv files.

Email - How do I create an email to send to friends and family?
Open a spreadsheet program (Microsoft Excel) and add the display name in one column and the corresponding email in the second column. The columns do not need to be labeled as Name & Email, but can be.

Email - What should the field labels be?
There does not need to be field labels, but can be added for convenience.
