  • Laressa’s Luck: The Ottosson family has pledged to support the pediatric stroke program at Boston Children’s—in gratitude for the treatment their daughter Laressa, 6, received.
  • Drafting Champions: The 2013 Champions for Children’s dinner and auction honored the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation and raised more than $3.6 million.
  • Viva Dr. Vives! The 2013 Milagros para Ninos Gala raised $567,000 and honored Patricio Vives, MD, founder of the Spanish Consultation Program.
  • Silver Linings Turn to Gold: The Boston Children’s Hospital League Gala raised $660,000 for League-sponsored programs at the hospital.
  • Doing Well; Doing good: The second annual Boston Investment Conference gathered 600 finance and investment professionals and raised nearly $1.7 million.
  • Caring from Kohls: Kohl’s Cares program donated $378,600 to support the Kohl’s and Boston Children’s Hospital Healthy Family Fun Program.
  • A Run with Heart: The 2014 Heartbreak Hill Half and Runner’s World Festival supporting Boston Children’s is June 8.
  • A Conversation with “Mr. Ambassador”: Jeff Robinson is chair of Boston Children’s Hospital Board of Overseers.
  • Old Friends and New: CEO Sandra Fenwick addressed the Children’s Circle of Care reception on October 15.

Fall 2013

  • Two Meaningful Miles: Grace Gibson has difficulty walking, but she completed the two-mile NSTAR’s Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital and raised $755 for her team.

  • A Wedding Gift from the Bride and Groom: Erin Hickey and Thomas Moschos honored her mother, the late Janice Dean Hickey, RN, with a gift to Boston Children’s Hospital.
  • Face Off!: the NHL Pro-Am tournament raised $300,000 for the hospital

  • Philanthropic Focus: Boston Children’s has been the “charity of choice” for George and Sue Gorman for decades, honoring their daughter Annie who died of heart disease in 2004. Now they have added the hospital to their estate plans.
  • Power of Play: The new Lorber Family Playground at Jackson Square brings the benefits of healthy play to a neighborhood in need.

Winter 2013

  • Life-Changer. The Danzig family’s gift to the Honor Great Care program demonstrates their gratitude to the Neurology and Neurosurgery team for changing their son Maxwell’s life.
  • From Salsa Dancing to Stem Cell Research. The Milagros para Ninos gala paid tribute to the Fundacion Alfredo Harp Helu for a $1 million gift to stem cell research. The evening also raised $500,000 for Boston Children’s on September 20, 2012.

  • Put a New Spin on Your Workout. Join the Spin for Boston Children’s Hospital fundraiser on Feb 24 at Boston Sports Clubs.
  • Run a Race for Boston Children’s and Let Us Baby You. Join Miles for Miracles.
  • 70 Years of Giving: Good for Hood! The Charles H. Hood Foundation has supported many of Boston Children’s researchers.
  • Fit City! The Fitness in the City program fights obesity in Boston.
  • Hoping for Answers. In memory of their baby, a family raises research funds to help solve the mystery of sudden infant death syndrome .
  • Up Close and Personal. The Children’s Circle of Care Fall Reception brought Boston Children’s scientists out of the lab and into the living room of event host Brant Binder.
  • From Legend to Legacy. As a premature infant more than 40 years ago, David Muccini’s life was saved at Boston Children’s. In gratitude, he has included the hospital in his estate plans.
  • Clowning Around with the League. The 30th annual Boston Children’s Hospital League Gala on Nov. 17 raised more than $600,000 to support League programs.
  • Invest in the Best. The first Boston Investment Conference to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital took place on Nov. 8, 2012.
  • Kohl’s Cares. A $515,805 gift from Kohl’s Department Stores is helping the hospital promote healthful eating and physical activity.

  • Shopping for Good - Retail stores Walmart, Sam’s Club, Circle K, Rite Aid, Costco, and Chico’s, corporate partners for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, raised more than $1 million for Boston Children’s.
  • Let the Chips Fall - The annual Texas Hold’em Tournament raised more than $425,000 for the hospital.
  • Welcome A-Board Freshman Class! - Five new members have joined the Trust board, representing the next generation of leadership.
  • Rich Life - Martin and Bernice Rich established a gift annuity to support Boston Children’s and have benefitted themselves as well.
  • Have You Seen Us? - We’ve changed our name to Boston Children’s Hospital and launched a new brand campaign, Until Every Child is Well.

Spring 2012

  • An Artfelt Gift - After her bone marrow transplant for leukemia, Sarah Levin’s family made a gift to name the playroom on 6 West in her honor, and support Child Life’s art coordinator position. Art activities were Sarah’s favorite pastimes during her hospitalization.
  • Good read, Great Cause - Fifth graders at Tewksbury’s J.F. Ryan Elementary School participate in an annual read-a-thon to raise funds for Boston Children’s.
  • It’s Catching! - John Hancock sponsors Boston Children’s Miles for Miracles team at the Boston Marathon, enabling runners like Erin Maloney and Tim McQuade to fulfill their running dreams while catching inspiration from their patient partner, Amy Spindler.
  • Raise Funds, Save Lives—Like Kyle’s - Kyle Landry, 2, whose life was saved by Boston Children’s, is part of a team for NSTAR’s Walk for Children’s Hospital. The event is celebrating its 10th year.
  • Battle of the Bands 2 - Teen musicians battled it out on Feb 12 at the Hard Rock Café Boston. The duo Nay won first prize with their song “Give a Little Bit More.”
  • Master Builders - Architects Pat and Kathleen Scanlon are generous donors and volunteers for various programs at Boston Children’s, and involve their three kids in their philanthropy.
  • Old Drug. New Life - Funding from the Melanoma Research Alliance and The V Foundation for Cancer Research is helping researchers in the stem cell program’s Zon lab bring a promising drug for melanoma to clinical trials.
  • Trust Transition - Lynn Susman succeeds Jan Cady as president of the Boston Children's Hospital Trust. Jan Cady assumes a new half-time role of executive chairman.
