Celtics license plate benefits Children's

June 25, 2008

Congratulations to the Boston Celtics for winning the NBA Championship. Not only are the Celtics world champions on the basketball court — they’re also champions for Children’s Hospital through the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.

Join this winning team by signing up for a Celtics license plate — $28 of every plate fee benefits Children’s Hospital. You’ll also receive a limited-edition Kevin Garnett t-shirt.

Download an application and return it with a $40 check (standard transfer fee) made out to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. Mail it to the Boston Celtics License Plate, P.O. Box 146729, Boston, MA 02114.

The RMV needs at least 1,500 subscribers to launch the program. We’re almost there — so spread the word and apply today!

Once your plates are ready for pick-up, the Registry of Motor Vehicles office closest to where your car is registered will notify you. License plate numbers will be randomly assigned between 1 and 1500 and won't include letters.

"We are pleased to have a unique way for our fans to support both the Celtics and Children's Hospital," explained Celtics Managing Partner and Governor, Wyc Grousbeck. "Children's has been a longstanding presence in the New England community, and our organization is proud to be associated with the hospital in this endeavor, and to have them as a focus partner of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation."

James Mandell, MD, President and CEO, Children's Hospital Boston said the plate program shows the Celtics strong commitment to Children's and the thousands of kids the hospital serves throughout New England. "We're honored to partner with such a storied franchise that brings so much pride to Boston, and we're thankful that these efforts will help us strengthen patient care and research."
